Like I've said before, I fully expect Todd Thomas to become a Pitt Panther. He has been high on Pitt for quite some time now. The big local 3 for us has always been DiCicco, Thomas, and Mason. DiCicco committed only a few days ago and Todd Thomas should make recruit #13 for the Panthers.
Thomas is ranked as the 23rd best WR prospect by rivals.com and is widely considered to be a player that could make an early impact. The only concern with Thomas is his grades. If he tried to enroll right now he would be academically ineligible. Luckily though he has time to improve his academic standing to hopefully become eligible for next season. Usually when you see players is academic trouble this early, it is a strong indication that the player will have to spend a year at prep school. Hopefully though he turns things around much like Dejuan Blair did during his senior year.

Man, it's always a crapshoot with kids who are teetering on the edge of academic eligibility. For every Lucas Nix, Elijah Fields or DeJuan Blair, there's a Windell Brown or Mo Williams. I'm not sure how close or far he is from qualifying, but hopefully he can get his classroom act together like Jaron Brown and eventually star for Pitt while earning a degree.
Assuming we get Thomas, do you think it's possible that he, Baldwin, and Shannahan would be the most formidable pick-up triumvirate at Trees next year?
Anyone know which official visit Durand Scott canceled earlier this week? Was it Tennessee or was he scheduled to visit Miami or UCLA? With Cheek coming to town for Halloween it has me wondering...
I imagine if Baldwin, Shanahan, Thomas are on a intramural bball team, they will be very difficult to beat.
A couple of years ago Sam Young played on an IM team and dominated against everyone. It wasn't close to being fair for anyone playing.
As far as Durand Scott goes, he canceled his visit last weekend to UCLA and this weekend he has canceled his visit to Tennessee. He had to cancel them both due to a tournament that his AAU team is playing in. He is scheduled to visit Miami next weekend, but he may cancel that one too. The more he cancels, the better off Pitt is. This will also play to our advantage when Dominic Cheek comes in for his official visit. Kansas is the team to beat for Cheek and Scott's two leaders are us and Uconn, but I suspect Miami will find a way to move up.
Supposedly Ed Turner used to always go up to Trees and talk smack on kids he'd beat and dunk on. It's like, "Dude, you're on the basketball team. You should be destroying the chemical engineer." Anyway, no big loss when that kid transferred, though his old teammate Julius Page remains one of my all time favorite Panthers.
