Dieffenbach and Ricketts to PSU

Dieffenbach and Ricketts have made it official, they will be going to our rival school that is not our rival. This certainly hurts as only a few months ago, these two were almost Pitt locks, now they'll be heading to a school to our east.

Right now things are starting to look a bit shaky for our program. With Penn State playing well these last few years under a new offense and WVU continuing to recruit well, this could be disasterous for Pitt.

Sure it hurts losing these two and as we all know, losing two guys won't simply kill our program, but the thing that is hurting us is our main recruiting base. We said we needed to build that wall around Western Pennsylvania. By my last count we have now lost 7 top targets from the WPIAL and have 0 commitments from the area.

Some people are floating conspiracy theories that Gattuso is purposely undermining the team. Don't buy into that crap. This is the same guy that a few years ago people were screaming to make the defensive coordinator and looked at as a potential future head coach.

The reason that we're losing these targets is because we have only had 1 winning season under Coach Wannstedt, which ended terribly in our bowl game. Sadly more non-passionate sports fans will remember us losing 3-0 in one of the most boring bowl games in recent memore instead of remembering that we went 9-3. To add to the problem, our geographical rivals are all now moving to a spread type offense where players are more comfortable playing in. With the rise in popularity of the spread, more kids will want to stay with that system.

Like we said in the past, square peg, meet round hole.

Are the wheels finally coming off? Pitt is losing the PR battle with old man Joe talking about expansion of the Big Eleven and now he is out-recruiting Wannstedt. Why are some alums and the administration so sold on this guy? It can't be because of brilliant coaching or keeping his players out of trouble. Until now, he had been a good recruiter.

Joshua - remind us again what you were right about?

Right about Wannstedt managing discipline very poorly (again, see Ricky), being a poor evaluator of players (anyone see any of the QBs on this roster EVER making a dent for the Panthers? Sunseri is too short, Stull is too stupid, and Bostick doesn't have much time left to fix the things Cavanaugh broke on him. Can anyone say Mirer, Fiedler, Lucas, Griese, and Feeley?), being too loyal to awful coaches (Tony Wise was an AWFUL NFL O-Line coach, yet he stayed in Miami throughout the Wannstedt Error), and now poor recruiting (the shine is obviously off, and the Panthers are heading for a sub-.500 season after an overrated season that was placed solely on the shoulders of Shady McCoy. Plus, Penn State just went to the Rose Bowl, and WVU really hasn't fallen that far off since DickRod left). Even DPJ agrees with me on these points. Can't you Wanny-lovers ever get it through your slack-jawed faces? WANNSTEDT SUCKS!!!!!

BTW, now I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I REFUSE to buy anything Pitt football-related until that idiot is GONE! That means no season tix this season. The near-fight I had at the Bowling Green game was probably the sign I needed that it was time to let the House of Usher fall on itself (and in case you yokels don't get it, read some Edgar Allan Poe).

Sub-.500 season? Want to put your money where your mouth is with that also? If so, I'm game.
